Enigma Box

Scientists all over the world use 5 skills to help better understand the natural world. Those skills include observing, inferring, predicting, classifying, and making models. These skills help scientists understand our Earth. When the class had to understand the Enigma box we had to use observation and inferring. The class also had too predict what the inside of the enigma box looked like.
An enigma box is a 4 sided rectangular prism with 1 large and small hole at the top end of the box. There is 1 tube coming out of the bottom of the box which lets the water escape. When you poor the water through the large hole at the top the water is contained until about 450 ml. and then starts pouring out. The tube helps drain the water when the pressure is too great in the water and air. The box is a puzzle because nobody in our class could figure out how it worked.
I think the inside of the enigma box is like a cup that tilts when the weight of the water is too great. When the weight is too much the water falls out of the cup and through the tube. It reminds me of the cups that dump the water on the people at Water World. If that was true  that would allow the water to drain through the tube at the bottom of the enigma box. I also think that the water starts to empty at 385 ml. and starts flowing out of the box at 400 ml.
So what really happens inside the enigma box, the explanation is pressure. The box has a tube that is folder in half and when the water line goes above the fold in the tube water starts to flow. Water and air pressure forces all of the water out of the box through the tube at the bottom. The hole at the top makes air pressure to the water when it flows out of the bottom through the tube. This is how the enigma box works.

In our blogs we had simularities and differences. One of our simularities was that we both put alot of thought into what was going on inside the box. A difference was that you had a put a real life example of what happened and I couldn't think of one. I really thought that your example was cool and overall you did a really good job.

The best part of your blog was the way you described things. I could really imagine what you were explaining about. If I had never heard about the enigma box your blog would help me understand the way it looked and how it worked. I guess i just really thought that your blog was very good and descriptive.
