The Science of Rockets: NASA has been using the atlas rocket for decades because of the reliability of these rockets. The rocket has three stages; the atlas, the centaur, and the payload. All of these parts of the rocket are either liquid or solid fueled inside these three stages. These rockets have been used for the Surveyor and Pioneer missions.
The Space Program: The space program for America is called NASA, which stands for National Aeronautics and Space Administration. NASA began in 1958 and their single mission was to explore space and everything in it. NASA has also put the first man on the moon with the Apollo 13 mission. NASA also knows how to maneuver satellites in orbit around planetary objects.
Exploring Space Today: There is a new technology coming out today caller the "Personal Satellite Assistant" for the International Space Station (ISS). This assistant would be powered by solar cells and would move around by little fans. The assistant could tell the astronaut the time, temperature, and could phone mission control with updates on the crew.
Using Space Science on Earth: 1% of the United States of America's budget is used for the space program. NASA has set up a website for the people who think money should go elsewhere. NASA helps people get T.V service, phone service, and internet connection by setting up satellites. The space program has also employed many people to explore the unknown and to pushback boundries!
